Corrado is a beautiful 11-month-old, medium-sized (approx 70 pound) GSD. He is a sweet tempered, pure-bred dog with traditional markings. He lives with my GSD-mix, Derek, and they are best buds--they LOVE tug-of-war. Corrado is crate-trained and prefers to sleep in there at night. He is also house-trained and knows how to use a dog door. Corrado knows "sit" and "no." I do not have a history or opinion of Corrado's experience with cats. He is very "low-key" and may do well with children. Corrado does not have AKC or other such papers. He was originally found as a stray by Washington Animal Control. He was terribly under-weight, he had patches of missing fur, his ears were infected, and he had a yeast (skin) infection. Animal Control attempted to euthanize Corrado twice as they thought he was not a good candidate for adoption. However, when the staff tried to euthanize him, he licked her hands and nuzzled up next to her, ultimately leading her to seek other options. After Washington German Shepherd Dog Rescue picked up Corrado from the shelter, a vet evaluated him. Four different medications were prescribed for Corrado's skin and ear infections. Corrado was bathed a few times and placed on a healthy, high-quality dog food. Corrado began to look like a brand new dog! Unfortunately, troubles have not ended for Corrado--the vet also determined that Corrado is in the early stages of hip dysplasia. Although Corrado does not appear disabled or to have pain from his condition, his hips will most likely need replacement in the future. WAGSD Rescue is currently accepting donations on Corrado's behalf. For now, we are grateful to have Gina, his new foster mom.
