Hans is looking for his Franz. He is an approx 2 year old muscular and solid DDR looking shepherd. He is friendly, intelligent, social, has great recall and will bond very strongly with his adopter. He is fond of women and is doing fine with my children. He is very calm in the house and apparently is used to sleeping anywhere he wants as the sofas, beds and chairs have never been off limits to him, in the past. You will need a few firm dog beds (near the couch and your bed) to keep him off the furniture. He is powerful but obedient. He will need daily exercise as all young dogs do, he loves playing ball and tug-o-war. He has great drive with objects and controllable prey drive, (but only with an experienced handler). He can be VERY intense, so will need an active and experienced owner. I've fostered over 30 GSD's, in the past year and a half, and if I had time for Schutzhund, tracking, or any other working/gaming trials, Hans would be one of a few first picks. He is house trained and used to being inside. He will need professional obedicence training and is young enough, very agile and very well put together so that he would be happiest going much further than obedience. Talk about personal protection, his looks alone would defer any potential problems. He was too interested in the cats he was introduced (he will chase, we don't know what he would do if he caught one) He will either need work with them or shouldn't be in a household with cats. Hans is a really great dog with LOADS of potential. The right person is going to fall in love with this dog. Hans adoption fee of 400 will assist with his and some our puppies spays and neuters.
