Barend is a 10 year old male Shepherd that we _literally_ rescued today. It was the last few hours of his alloted time period at this shelter, we got him in the nick of time. Our rescue couldn't say no, the alternative was not an option. The Shelter staff pulled every string to extend his time there until they could find a rescue to take him. They had grown very fond of his soft temperament and kind eyes. Foster mom update: Barend is a fantastically beautiful older (estimated 7-10----will know better on Mon. when he sees my vet for x-rays) purebred male GSD with a large head and thick beautiful fur. He is VERY affectionate and gets along extremely well with other dogs and people. He follows you everywhere. He is weak in the back legs, but can climb stairs (a long flight of 14-16 stairs) and will climb them to be with you. He has the sweetest disposition and will make a fantastic companion. He can go on walks but prefers the shorter ones. He is playful and gentle. I really can't imagine a better dog.
