About Berit (Adoption Pe

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Our rescue usually takes in purebred German Shepherd dogs. However, once in a while we struggle with the decision to take in a Shepherd mix but sometimes we just cannot say "no." How could when we get emails like this from the kind woman who was caring for this neglected, abandoned dog for the past year and a half:
"For the past year and a half I have been feeding a German Shepherd mix. He is jet black with carmel colored markings on his chest with some while markings also on chest and feet. I have patched him up for wounds he has gotten from time to time. But last Friday was really bad. I had the school make him a dog house and it is in front of my parking space next to the building I work in. He was in it and didn't come out. When I went to him he wagged his tail and his mouth was lacerated on both sides of his bottom jowels. His tongue was ripped and part of the underneath was hanging out. I took him to the Vet where he had surgery and was neutered also. He also had his first shots. The vet said that he is probably two years old. He is gentle and sweet. Not once did he growe or acted as if he would harm me or anyone else. It was his first car ride and leash experience. He desperatly needs a good home. I can't take him as I have two Wirehair Fox Terriers. If there is any assistance you can provide I would appreciate it. He has been abused in the past by someone and people here don't care. I worry about him." Update:
Berit is an absolute sweetheart. He is great with cats and is fine with other dogs. He even smiles! He loves to play with his foster sister. Berit is so happy to be in a home. He is loving, smiles all the time, wags his tail all the time and loves to be pet. He is so calm in the home and wants only to be with you curled up by your feet. His precious face is always looking at his foster mom for praise and hugs and kisses. He would make a loving and special addition to your home.
