Update from Laney's foster home! Laney is amazing. If I didn't believe she was 100% german shepherd I would guess she was a lab in another life. She knows: "no", "sit", "down", and learning "wait" (she is very intelligent and a quick learner). She loves to play with her kong, and I mean play with it by dropping it, tossing it, chasing it! Any moving object, fly, bee, falling leaves are an invitation to play (this of course will include small squirrels and as you mentioned probably cats). She has been off-leash with me hiking and knows how far she can go. She is very friendly with other dogs and has been properly socialized (she put a puppy in its place very nicely and handled herself well with other labs and shepherds). Loved to play tug with another dog and a stick. She is a very strong swimmer and loves the water and will retrieve sticks thrown to her. She is not overly protective and will greet strangers at the door very nicely. She will look like a great watch dog but her temperament is very even. She will allow me to groom her and clip her nails. She loves to spend time with you but doesn't need to be with you every minute of the day. She was great with an eight year old who was running and skipping around her. She also rides very well in my truck. Although she may come across as a little insecure, she shows no true signs of separation anxiety). She has been very quiet, I've only heard one small bark. All in all, an exceptional dog.
