Zorro is a large boned, male GSD. He is absolutely darling and you have to see him in person to fully appreciate his looks! From his structure, it appears that he will be a large dog. Zorro has been diagnosed with megaesophagus. Potential adopters should familiarize themselves with this condition prior to submitting an application. A careful diet is key to overcoming this health issue. Zorro is looking for a special family who has the time and patience to give him the loving care that he requires for a full and happy life. Megaesophagus causes dogs to regurgitate their food and water, so they need to be fed while their bodies are kept at a 90 degree angle and kept in this position for 30 min after they are fed. If they are not kept in this position, they can regurgitate their food and possibly aspirate fluid into their lungs, which can lead to pneumonia. Following this feeding routine, in addition to a special diet, are necessary to ensure that Zorro will continue to grow and stay healthy. Megaesophagus is a chronic condition with no cure. Potential adopters need to realize that this will be ongoing throughout his life and they much be committed to providing the necessary care to keep him alive and well. He is happy and playful in his loving foster home and we are hoping to find a new family who will be equally committed to providing him with this special care. Are you that special person or family?
