Most dogs that enter into Rescue tug at your heartstrings with their stories of abandonment or abuse. The story of Katie and Orion is particularly tragic. Katie and Orion belonged to the same owner since they were puppies, but for reasons unknown, the owners could no longer care for them, and took them to a shelter. Unfortunately, due to the increased number of dogs at the shelter as a result of the Fourth of July fireworks, Katie and Orion were labeled as unadoptable due to their age. With an overabundance of young, active dogs to place, the possibility of finding a loving home to take these two beautiful dogs was incredibly slim. Katie and Orion were confused and terrified while at the shelter. The pair kissed each other's faces to be sure that they were still there, and to garner a bit of comfort in an otherwise frightening situation. If the Rescue could not have taken the pair in, they would have died - confused, terrified and alone. A HUGE thank you to Kelly for opening your home to this sweet pair of dogs. Without you, Katie and Orion would have died with only each other, far from the only home they had ever known. Rescue is in need of a special home for Katie. We are hoping that there is someone out there would is willing to give Katie a chance at a happily ever after. Katie and Orion didn't choose to lose the only home they had ever known. They did not have any say in how their twilight years would be spent. If you believe that you can offer her the home she deserves, please complete an application to meet this very affectionate pair of dogs. Katie gets along well with people and other dogs and cats. We have learned that Katie and Orion are both AKC shepherds and that they are mother and son. Please complete an application if you would like to meet this terrific dog.
