Thank you Cynthia for fostering Leo! Leo is a purebred German Shepard from American show lines. He had the same female owner from puppyhood until about a year ago when he was surrendered to a foster situation which can no longer care for him. He did benefit from consistent training while young, is very well socialized with people and other animals, especially enjoying the company of a companion cat. Although fine with other animals when out and about for walks and such, it is believed that Leo would prefer to be the only dog in the household so that he does not have to "share" his person and/or family with another.... Very active earlier in life, in his middle age Leo has settled into a lower activity level, and is now confined to extremely low activity by recent ACL surgery on his left hind leg. Expecting a full recovery in 6-8 weeks, Leo will be able to again show the world that he's still full of fun and enjoys to romp and roll, and is generally "game" for excursions out of the house whenever possible. He is very much a people dog, and would love to stay near his person whenever possible (even attempting to get under the computer desk, while you're at it!). At home, he will give three or four deep woofs at doorbells and strange noises, but is well trained in voice commands and respects there is a human "boss" in charge. His one funny habit is the tendency to whine for unexplainable reasons - often while appearing to be totally content. We have chalked that up to "self expression". He is sweet, gentle, obedient guy who will fit in great with someone for whom an intelligent, loyal, loving dog with a lower activity level would be an asset.
