German Shepherd Dog / Mixed : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Large
Notes from current foster home:
In just one short week, Max has stolen the hearts of every member of our household. He is a gentle giant who is wonderful to have around. Max has such a huge capacity for love - it's amazing to watch my children lay on his big body and he sits there quietly allowing them some snuggle time. He loves to lay his big head in your lap and will even try to sit in your lap if you will let him. He adores having his tummy rubbed and his constantly wagging tail reminds us of how happy he is. Max is what everyone hopes for in a shepherd - he has the stunning good looks, intelligence, loyal personality and exceptional behavior. He is one of the first foster dogs that we've had (in 2 yrs) that has not had a single accident in the house and who has not whined in his crate for even 30 seconds. Truly exceptional!!
We've discovered that he knows some german commands - probably more than we realize because we don't speak German! He's obviously had training in his past. Max loves to play with our female shepherd - they are quite comical in their bounding escapades. Max loves a good chew toy too - anything that gives his big jaws something to work on (pig hides seem to be a particular favorite) Max listens to commands (even from the 6 and 9 yr old kids) and is very responsive. All in all, this is an absolutely amazing dog. We are hoping that he will find an equally amazing family who will give him the life that he so desperately deserves. Max is a treasure. You can see the loyalty in his eyes....to think that anyone would ever betray his loyalty and trust (by giving him up) truly breaks your heart.
Max is a very handsome new male that has just arrived. This gorgeous boy is just 3.5 yrs young - a perfect age! Max has so many terrific traits, including being perfectly crate and housetrained, walking beautifully on lead, and being calm indoors. Max is an affectionate dog who enjoys being near his family, but he isn't needy. Max likes to engage the other shepherd in his foster home in a game of dog tag and occassionally he'll chase after a ball, but he is truly content just laying beside you or getting a nice pat on the head. Max is a large boy, weighing in close to 90 lbs. His coloring is black and cinnamon and he has a beautiful, blocky head.
Max is currently being fostered in a home with other dogs and 2 young children. He adores having the kids rub his belly, or trying to climb into their lap. Max would be best suited to a home without cats as he has a high small animal prey drive.
Max deserves a fantastic family that will shower him with love and give him a forever home.
