German Shepherd Dog / Mixed : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
This is sweet Annabelle. She was abandoned with her 2 sisters at a high kill shelter. Black mixed dogs are the first to be euthanized when the shelter gets crowded. We saved Annabelle on her last day at the shelter but her two sisters were not so lucky. She sat at her kennel door looking up at us with her soft brown eyes, praying someone would take her out of this noisy, scary place. We couldnt resist and she is now safe in a foster home.
Foster UPDATE Everyone that meets Annabelle falls in love with her kind, gentle nature. Annabelle was a little shy at first, probably adjusting from a hard life before entering rescue, but once she felt safe, she came out of her shell quickly and is a total lovebug! Despite not being lap-dog size, she likes to climb into her foster dad's lap to lick his face - so sweet! She's very kissy, cuddly, and attentive to people, and gets along well with the energetic young shepherds she's staying with. She likes to watch the kitties, but doesn't want to get too close, so she's got good common sense! She's well-behaved in the car and in her crate, and has very good house manners, too. She is also fine left outside of her crate as well. Annabelle is great on her leash and has medium energy. We weren't planning on fostering right now, but fell in love with her on a "transport" day, and just had to spend more time with her - which actually seems to be everyone's reaction to Annabelle's sweet, expressive face and loving personality! Annabelle woule to just cuddle up next to you by the fire or on the couch for an evening in. UPDATE This past weekend Annabelle went to her foster dad's softball game. She had a great time. She met many, many new human friends, as well as canine friends. She did not seemed bothered by the noise or commotion at the game. She even looked as if she was watch ing the game, I think she just wanted to go out there and catch the ball - probably wondering why she was not invited to play.
