What does neglect look like in a dog..Noel is a prime example. She ended up at a Shelter, with nails so long, she could barely walk. Once her stray hold was up, the staff deemed her unadoptable due to her age and health. Who would adopt her when there were SO many young adoptable dogs looking for a home? Fortunately, the staff does their best to place dogs like her into Rescue and give them a chance they would not have in the Shelter. Their goal is to place as many dogs as possible and not have space taken up by a dog like Noel...Noel went for a long walk yesterday, and has excellent manners on the leash ! she walks at a nice slow pace and looks to her handler for direction.
She is in a foster home, nails cut, wonderful warm soapy bath ...a nice warm bed. She is one of the Lucky ones whose owner let her go and then never came to find her and yet ended up in a safe place. A dog who was sitting in a yard, forgotten. So many other dogs are not as lucky as Noel..
Monday she is off to the vet thanks to Mike, to have a wellness exam, all of her vaccinations and see what we can do to give her the best last years of her life.
