Border Collie / Husky / Mixed : : Male : : Adult : : Large
Levi is 80 lb 5 year old border collie mix, he is exceptionally smart, confident and friendly, so he is a natural pack leader and a fast learner. It also makes him a fearless and capable hiking companion.
Whether it is boulder hopping, steep heather, or a seemingly impossible creek crossing, Levi is undeterred on the trail. Put a harness on him and he can pull you on your skis or to the summit of a mountain. He has been on dozens of hiking and backpacking trips carrying his own food and water.
He has some husky traits: he likes to spend time outside and he rarely barks because he loves everybody. That also makes him the opposite of loyal--he has jumped into strangers’ cars on several occasions! Levi needs a yard with a tall fence, or else an enclosed kennel, when left at home.
He loves attention in any form. He is good with other dogs at the dog park, though he likes to play rough, often challenging the largest dog(s) he can find. But he is gentle at heart, and will let smaller dogs at the dog park win the wrestling match as long as it keeps the game going. At the dog park he will usually greet every dog and every person. People are drawn immediately to his good looks and outgoing character.
Levi needs a second dog or somebody who stays at home. He is housebroken. Levi’s family is heartbroken to have to give up such an exceptional dog, but family problems make it necessary to find him a new home. Our preference is that Levi and Koshka stay together as they are very bonded, however, we are open to the possibility of separating them.
