German Shepherd Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed : : Male : : Baby : : Medium
FENCED YARD REQUIRED FOR ANY OF OUR DOGS!! Indiana Jones, as his foster mom loves to refer to Luca by, arrived the week before Christmas. He stepped out of his crate full of confidence as if to say “I’m here”. Many dogs would be hesitant and shy about being introduced to a new home with other dogs and unfamiliar people. Not Him!! He is full of puppy energy,at about 8 months of age. He embraced it all with happiness and glee. Although he is a typical young dog, he has managed to win over and gain the approval of his foster mom’s two laid back (and grumpy) female shepherds and her 2 cats. His foster mom was able to crate train him in a matter of days and he has learned to walk on a leash and some basic commands like sit, lie down and come. He is a quick learner and wants to please. He loves playing tug of war with his toys and when his foster mom stops playing with him, he just throws the toy into the air and keeps playing by himself. He is not destructive at all and always looks for his toy to play with and has not even attempted to chew any of his foster mom’s things. He is good in the yard and does not bark or dig. He exercises his own tail by wagging it nonstop! He has been on a couple of hikes and he does not chase wildlife or leave the trail. His foster dad let him swim in a lake and he had a blast (though foster mom was not too happy about getting 3 wet muddy dogs back from the hike). He rides calmly in the back of the car, sometimes looking out the window, sometimes sleeping. He would be a great companion for someone who is willing to throw a stick or ball for him or someone who is very outdoorsy and will take him mountain biking, snowboarding or skiing. This guy can keep up with you. He will adapt well to any situation.
