Penrith is a handsome 2 year old AMBER White German Shepherd.  We seldom get this RARE breed in foster and he is a very striking dog indeed.  His coat is the classic variation of the White German Shepherd with the amber/apricot/champagne highlights and he also has the “snow nose” which purebred white shepherds and amber shepherds often have, where the nose pigmentation fades  to a lighter color.  He is currently being fostered with both male and female Shepherds and cats. 

His foster mom has this to say about him.   “Penrith   was very shy when he first arrived but it didn’t take him long to warm up to me.  He is very affectionate and gets along great with all the other dogs in his foster home.  I must be on a winning streak as he is such a great foster dog.  He probably was an indoor dog in his previous life as he is very well behaved  and is totally house-trained.  I am also very grateful that he is not one of those male dogs that  likes to mark all the time and I have not seen him lift his leg even on our  walks.   I take him on a walk around the neighborhood every day and he is great on a leash.  He knows basic commands like “sit” and “down”.  On our walks he has encountered squirrels and cats and he totally ignores them, even when I stop and show him the cat that just ran in fron of him.  He has no interest!!  He loves his food and as soon as I get his food bowl out he does a little happy dance.  In the evenings he is just content to curl up on a doggie bed and hang out.  He is not demanding at all but if I give him a little attention he is so grateful.  As he feels more comfortable with me, his playful side is coming out and he smiles ear to ear:-).  He is shy at first with strangers but one of my neighbors has been visiting with him and now he just adores her too.  I think he will bond very quickly to someone who is willing to allow him the time he needs to feel comfortable with his new person.  Oh yes,  almost forgot.  He does not bark, chew or dig.  Amazing!!!".
