Uta (pictured, right) has just arrived into rescue! This gorgeous, 1.5-year-old, German Shepherd Dog is a striking 100 lb girl. She is a large female and a great weight.
Uta was surrendered by her owner after going through a painful divorce. Uta and Raina were raised in the same home. They are well socialized with people, children and other dogs and do well at the dog park. However, both dogs were raised in a home with only two adults and, so, their future home will be a single or adult couple. We are splitting the girls up as they are siblings and also females. Currently, Uta is in a foster home with another Shepherd, a small dog and a cat.
Uta is very social and adores car rides. She thinks she is a lap dog! Her adopter needs to be aware that she doesn't have that typical Shepherd space. She wants to be in your space and on your lap--all 100 lbs of her. She will do well with someone who loves to go for walks and to the park.
Both girls have excellent house manners even though they are both so young. Her previous owners left her loose while away at work.
Uta is very content to lie on a lap or next to a person. She especially loves to be scratched behind her ears and she likes to be brushed. Uta and Raina are very obedient and were trained in German for their basic commands. Uta will excel at continued obedience training, especially since she listens very well when food is involved.
Uta's favorite toys are the Kong and rope with knots for playing tug-of-war and around the world (circles). She even kind of likes to play catch. Uta is a very fun happy Shepherd who will fit right in with her new adopter!
