About Layne

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Housetrained: Yes
Layne is new to rescue and she won't be in rescue long! This amazing girl has been very well loved and very well cared for by her previous owner. It is heartbreaking to see her lose her home. Layne is a wonderful German Shepherd Dog who loves toys and loves to fetch. She fetches as well as any Labrador! Layne also loves to swim and is very athletic. Her previous home was very active and hiked every day with Layne for 2 hours. For anyone looking for a serious outdoor companion, Layne is your girl. She also loves to snowshoe! Layne loves the car. She easily rides in the car, in the back of a Subaru, with a dog gate or crated. Layne has no separation anxiety and does not do damage to anything when left at home alone. She will hang out on her dog bed or play with her favorite squeaky toys. Layne has a sense of humor and liked to tease her previous owner while the beds were made or by picking up the clothes. She has never destroyed any of her previous owner’s things, but liked to pretend to be the helper. While Layne’s previous owner was doing Yoga, she loved to follow her lead and roll all over the mat and mimic her poses. At her previous home, she would also stand by the door and wait to get dried off, even when her previous owner did not realize she needed to. Layne is excellent at moving slowly up and down the stairs in a very respectful manner. Her previous owner lives in a condo, so, she did not have a yard. Layne is best suited for someone active in a condo or in a house with a fenced yard. She was also allowed to sleep on her previous owner's bed and never made a peep: a great bed partner! She was allowed on one couch and respected that the other couch was not for her to use. Layne is a social dog and has been around cats, small dogs, large dogs and children. However, as her previous owner is a single adult, we are looking to match her up in a household with a single or adult couple. If you would like to adopt Layne, please visit our website and apply today! PLEASE NOTE: The information contained within this biography is based on observations from the current foster home. In no way can we predict future behavior and or temperament as individual household dynamics vary greatly, and are impacted by the experience and leadership of those within the home. Please fill out an application to meet me at http://www.washingtongsd.org/application.html The adoption process includes completion of an adoption application, a vet check, a home visit and a lifetime adoption contract.
