Ava is a stunning, 10-month-old female, bicolor German Shepherd Dog. You may be drawn to her stunning looks, which match her amazing social temperament, but please note she is not a German Shepherd that is content to sit on the sofa and watch TV with you after a long day at work. Ava is a high energy dog who is engaging and wants to work. She is active, intelligent and wants to please. Ava is an athletic dog and loves an active household, whether that is someone who jogs, goes on long walks or hikes. She is very intelligent and learns quickly. Ava has a desire to work with her human and is very biddable. Ava’s ideal home is with someone who has GSD experience and/or someone who is interested in obedience, nosework, or other dog sports and has the time for this level of training. She is currently in a wonderfully busy, active, household with older children and other dogs. However, Ava's ideal home is where she will be the only pet in the household. Therefore, please, no households with visiting dogs, either. Ava wants to be the center of attention inside of the home. Please note that Ava does not have any leash aggression towards other dogs. She walks happily beside other dogs and in training classes with other dogs. Ava simply only wants to be the only dog inside of the home. Ava is a very affectionate shepherd. She has an excellent temperament and is very people friendly/social. Everyone who meets Ava remarks at what an exceptional temperament she has. Ava thrives on affection and love. She wants to be where you are, even just in the room or in the next room from you. Ava loves to lay next to you on the couch for pets. She loves to be petted, talked to, to play ball, squeaky toys and stuffed animals. Ava wants more than anything to be bonded to her person. She is a very loyal dog. Ava is eating grain free, Earthborn Holistic, 4x a day (5 cups a day total), plus fish oil to give her that gorgeous shiny coat. Ava has a lot of energy and loves to run and play in the yard, but also settles nicely in the house once she has exercised. She is crate-trained; her previous owner used a large wire crate. Ava’s foster home has left her for an hour or two, crated, when they go out. We are looking for a couple that isn't gone from home full-time during the day. Ava is learning to walk nicely on leash. She has shown an extreme interest in cats so she must go to a home without cats. Ava’s foster home can handle her legs, feet, ears, mouth, etc., with no issues. She is very obliging to handling by her foster family. Ava has learned some vocabulary that might help her new family communicate with her. She understands these words, but is not 100% obedient yet. :) Ava is still a puppy!! She knows her name and comes when you call her name. Some of her other vocabulary: "crate" to go in her crate "sit" "get it" to fetch a ball "outside" to go outside "let's go in the house" she will go to the door to go in Ava sits before her food bowl is placed in front of her Ava is totally housebroken and is learning to go potty on command in the yard as well.
