Valerie has been a wonderful additional to our home. She gets along well with our own 8 year old male; though she wishes he would play with her. She loves to chew on her toys and definitely requires the super chewer quality toys. When we are away from the house she enjoys roaming free; though, she would do fine in a crate (if you use food to coax her in). This girl is VERY food motivated! We use a slower feeder as she loves to quickly gobble down her food. She loves EVERY human she meets and is such a cuddle bug! Valerie sleeps in the bed with us at night. She does this really cute thing where she jumps into the bed for bedtime, does a few circles in the area where she plans to lay, the flops down like a ton of bricks haha! At the dog park she walks up to strangers & gently requests pets (she never jumps on them). She plays well with all other dogs she has met. Her play style can be vocal and mouthy (mainly with dogs she is close with/lives with- not dog parks). She loves her positive reinforcement treats on our walks. Her recall is good once she realizes you are her people; she just wants to be by her human(s). We use treats at the dog park to help with her recall. Her energy level is medium to low. She has her playful moments during the day but loves to lay on the couch and snuggle- guaranteed if you’re on the couch she will be laying next to you. We found out fireworks don’t bother her. On New Year’s Eve our surrounding neighborhood went over board with fireworks. She barked at the first few, went to the window to assess, barked a little more, then she got bored and came back to my side on the couch and went to sleep for the remainder of the fireworks.
